WORKS

Mímipachico is my interpretation of an alebrije paper mache sculpture which has a mix of raccoon, deer, swallowtail butterfly, and human elements. The name “Mímipachico” comes from the words “mimic” and “mapache” (raccoon). This elusive alebrije thrives in forests. It uses mimicry, like its mane naturally woven into human-like face, to deter predators. The Mímipachico is gentle natured and is believed to guide those lost in the woods back to civilization. Inversely, thanks to their haunting appearance, they are also said to drive away people with ill intentions. Because of these behaviors, Mímipachico is often called a guardian of the forest.
